10 Ways to Practice Self Love Throughout the Day

For most of us, our daily routine consists of designated hours spent going to work, working, going back home and getting some sleep. We seldom or never even think of scheduling time within our day for ourselves; to just be alone and do something that we really want to do or to reward ourselves for getting through the day.

Show yourself some love by scheduling time for self love throughout the day and on your days off. These are also some of the habits of highly successful people. Here are 10 ways to love yourself as you go through your day.

1. Meditate

You can actually meditate anytime you want to. Learn how to start a meditation practice and schedule it in the morning after waking up and before going to bed. Once you have mastered this habit, you can meditate throughout the day anytime you need to take a break from the daily grind. Meditation helps us calm ourselves and clear our minds to process all our thoughts and to receive new information.

2. Keep Track of Your Accomplishments

Some of us start the day with a To Do list. Why not start an Accomplishment List first so you can give yourself a pat on the back for the previous day’s achievements? You will be more motivated to finish off your tasks for the day when you start the day with good vibes.

3. Eat Healthy and Mindfully

We are very proud of our ability to multi-task so we are often eating in front of our computers and not really able to enjoy our food. Next time, pick a healthy lunch and eat away from your desk. Sit down and actually focus on enjoying the whole process of eating.

If you are with other people, ask them to do the same and not talk about work. Appreciate the food that you are eating instead.

4. Get Moving

You don’t have to go jogging or get a gym membership. Just make it a point to get some form of exercise daily whether it be 10 minutes of yoga every morning or walking around the block after lunch or for an afternoon break from work. Exercise produces endorphins which increases feelings of happiness. So you clear your mind as you focus on your exercise and you get a happiness boost as a result.

5. Write Your Thoughts

Throughout the day, take some time to be alone with your thoughts and review your goals. Write notes of encouragement to yourself when facing difficult situations or write down your thoughts on the matter. Reviewing them later will give you a better insight into the issue you are facing and will help you get to know yourself better.

6. Read a Book

Schedule reading time with a book that you’ve always wanted to read or to learn something new. Spend at least 30 minutes in the morning or before going to bed for your reading time.

If you are reading at night, try to choose books that can calm your mind to prepare you for sleep better. This daily habit can help gain more knowledge without needing to take more time for taking a course.

7. Give Yourself a Massage

Show your hardworking hands and feet some love by giving yourself a massage at the end of the day. There are many videos that show you how to do this and they only take a few minutes to knead away the stress from your hands and feet.

8. Enjoy Your Pampering Ritual

This is especially recommended for ladies who have a beauty routine. Whether you have one for day and night or just for the night, take time to go through your beauty routine calmly, don’t rush. Enjoy the whole process and think happy thoughts while you cleanse away the sleep from your eyes or rinsed away the day’s stress.

9. Express Your Gratitude

If you have time for a To Do list and an Accomplishment List, then make it a habit to also complete a Gratitude List at the end of the day. Before going to sleep, think of at least 3 things that you are thankful for during the whole day.

If you’ve had a bad day, then be thankful that you got home safe, that you still have a house and that you have a bed to sleep on. Don’t try too hard thinking of what things to be thankful for and appreciate the most obvious things too.

10. Unplug to Relax

Schedule at least an hour before going to bed to start unplug from your computer and mobile devices. Use this time to read, write and/or meditate. Or use the time to just lie down and put your feet up and focus on just relaxing without being interrupted. This is also a good time to prepare for sleep.

You can spend more time to practice any of these during your off days but be sure to make time for these throughout the day not only to help your relax but also to keep you from feeling anxious. Being able to take control of daily schedule with pockets of self love will help you be more present in the moment and make you feel more in control of your time and your life.
